Things to do at the Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge is best treated as several separate stops rather than one photo op. On the San Francisco side, Crissy Field gives a flat, walkable shoreline view, while Fort Point sits directly under the south tower and shows the bridge from below.
Crossing on foot or by bike takes roughly 30-60 minutes each way depending on wind and traffic on the path, and there is no toll for anyone not driving. On the Marin side, Battery Spencer and the main vista point above Sausalito give the classic elevated angle, about 10-15 minutes by car from the bridge.
Fog is common even in July and August, so a clear span is not guaranteed on any single visit.
