The United States updates its entry rules from time to time. Pick your nationality below to see the current requirement before you book flights.

Good to know

The ESTA (for Visa Waiver Program countries) is applied for online before departure, for about 21 USD, and stays valid for up to two years or until the passport expires.
The ESTA is not a visa — it is a travel authorization, and it must always be requested before you fly, never on arrival.
Only use the official ESTA application site, esta.cbp.dhs.gov. Many copycat sites mimic its design and charge several times the real fee for the same application.
Visa Waiver Program membership and entry rules are reviewed periodically, so double-check the official site shortly before you fly, even if this tool showed 'ESTA only' before.

This tool gives a general orientation based on publicly known rules; it is not legal advice and does not replace the official US Customs and Border Protection or State Department sites, which you should check before booking or travelling.
